The Best Core Exercises – Training the Obliques Functionally

For this week’s tutorial, I decided to put up some of my best functional core exercises. The tool of use? A pulley system.

The best core training exercises are the ones that will improve your core function in real time situations. The core exercises that apply most in reality, will be the ones done in rotation. In this video, we will specifically be using the anterior oblique systems (composed of the external obliques, internal obliques, and adductors), along with the posterior oblique system (Latissimus Dorsi and Gluteus Maximus. By using these core exercises we will develop functionality at one of its most crucial point for training.

Enjoy!

Hi Naudi. Without a pulley system, is there another method of performing these movements effectively? Would a resistance band or similar work? I’d love to add this to my workout but the pulley systems at my gym are all above shoulder height. Thanks!
