I’ve been through ten kinds of hell with piriformis syndrome since I was 19, so more than 30 years now. Try heat instead of ice for inflammation. 3-4 times a day is not too much.

Please explain why heat would be better than ice. I always assume when you are active like when I am playing ice hockey – I will use plenty of Icy Hot and after when I get home I use ice. Right now I am not playing or doing much of anything due to the Periformis muscle hurting and I have siaticia issue too shooting down my outter thigh and into my knee but the sharp pain I am getting throughout the day when I move a certain way is a 10 pain. I am assuming this is the inflammation and hitting a nerve /joint? My IT band area also hurts to the touch. I was told to try muscle relaxer pills-your thoughts on all of what I am saying /asking. I have started PT-2 sessions so far. The PT guy Just has me doing things for the hip area-clam shell kind of stuff. I do have a stick roller but in too much pain to really want to use it. Thank You for your help in answering my questions. Mark
